Ayewa derives from the Akan words for pestle & mortar.
The classical method for blending spices, herbs for medicinal or culinary use. This concept illustrates our use of the local and traditional ingredients and methods to inspire natural, modern beauty and wellness products.
Our founder Dr. Nanayaa Bates holds a PhD in Biomedical Material Science and Engineering. Before starting Ayewa Labs Nanayaa oversaw the research, development, and production of cardiovascular technology. This means that passion and creativity are balanced with controlled scientific procedures, ensuring that whomever your customers are you can give them peace of mind regarding the content and process behind your products.
Ayewa Labs started as a formulation development and manufacturing for a brand called Dr. Bates Solutions. This Brand is a trademark for Ayewa Aberfur Ltd in England. This skin care line was developed mainly by Dr. Nanayaa Bates used her expertise to ensure a perfect blend of passion, creativity, and scientific rigor in creating a solution to pregnancy hormonal acne. The formulation lab in Ghana was set-up in 2018. In 2021, a strategic decision was made to utilize the lab space and share knowledge with start-ups looking to develop natural skin care products. Although our flagship brand exists, we now promote ourselves as a product development and manufacturing partner for African-based ingredients.
In January 2022, we added ‘Ayewa essentials’ to our operations and services. This part of our company focuses on supplying natural ingredients for formulation to our clients outside Africa. This includes oils, butters, tinctures, powders, dried leaves and flowers and extracts.
Quality should never be a compromise. We will handle everything for you, from consultation to sourcing raw materials and packaging. The raw materials we use are sourced from suppliers in Africa in order to ensure that we deliver high quality products at a competitive price.
Our state of the art Research and Development laboratory ensures that all products developed and manufactured are set to pass stability and microbiological testing. We also assist clients to obtain a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) from accredited laboratories.
We monitor current trends and how customers perceive their prices compared to competitors and adjust strategies accordingly. We also help price your product
